Service & Leadership
Students as changemakers
At Ponderosa, we believe students can change their world. Through service projects and leadership opportunities, our learners grow into active, caring citizens. They don’t just study problems, they roll up their sleeves to solve them.

Give Next Youth Philanthropy
Through Give Next, our youth grantmaking program, students work as a team to research local needs and award real grants to nonprofits. They learn about empathy, budgeting, and the power of giving back while making a tangible impact.
Community Partnerships
We partner with local organizations to turn learning into action. Whether planting trees in a park, leading a neighborhood clean-up, or tending a community garden, Ponderosa students pitch in. These projects show them first-hand how they can improve their community.

Family Volunteering
Our families join in too! Parents and siblings often volunteer alongside students at events and service days. Whether helping run a fundraiser, chaperoning a field trip, or serving meals at a shelter, working side by side helps everyone bond and lead by example.
Youth Leadership
We encourage students to take on leadership roles during their ILPs. Many serve on student council or lead clubs, head up volunteer projects, or speak at community events. Even a shy student may find their voice by mentoring a younger peer. By practicing leadership now, they gain confidence for the future.
